  1. disonegu says:

    1) B is what DNA polymerase follows when it grabs floating nucleotides to attach to the parent molecule.
    2) The answers are not entirely true (I don’t how how to explain that better), so it must be D
    3) C, potassium, is not part of the DNA molecule. See website to see what it looks like

  2. ivorytow says:

1.) b… the DNA double helix splits and each half makes a complementary copy
2.) b… males get their X chromosome from mom
    3.) c…what can I say, there’s no potassium

  3. Crystal B says:

Q1- Dunring interphase, the DNA is spilt by helicase((I think)) and made into a replication fork. The complimentary nitrogen base pairs are then added by DNA polymerase. They are added to the 3′ end first, in one straight movement, an dthey are added to the 5′ end using primers and Okasaki fragments. So the answer is B/
Q2- If I’m not mistaken, since it is carried on the X chromosome, you would need to know the genome of the mother as well, because she can be a carrier. So, D.
Q3- DNA molecules are double helix structures of A nitrogen base(Adenine, Thymine, Cytosine, and Guanine), a sugar and a phosphate, The nitorgen bases code for the actual gentic material. They pair adenine with thymine and cytosine with guanine. Adenine and Guanine are the purines, and they have two organic rings. Cytosine and Guanine are the pyridmidine, which have one organic ring, Adenine and Thymine are paired with a double bond and Cytosine and Guanine with a triple. The answer to the question is D.

    Question One
The S phase, short for synthesis phase, is a period in the cell cycle during interphase, between G1 phase and the G2 phase. Following G1, the cell enters the S stage, when DNA synthesis or replication occurs. At the beginning of the S stage, each chromosome is composed of one DNA double helix molecule, which is called a chromatid. At the end of this stage, each chromosome has two identical DNA double helix molecules, and therefore is composed of two sister chromatids. During S phase, the centrosome is also duplicated. These two events are unconnected, but require many of the same factors to progress. The end result is the existence of duplicated genetic material in the cell, which will eventually be divided into two. The answer is C.
    Question 2
A is not always true, B is never true, andc is not true. The answer is D.
    Question 3
DNA is a long polymer of simple units called nucleotides, which are held together by a backbone made of sugars and phosphate groups. In the space at the centre of the stacked bases are three chelated potassium ions. The answer is A.
In the future, do your own research/homework.

Here’s something for you to think about:
Q1 – B, because it is the base pair “complimentariness” which allows for a string of RNA to be duplicated, and from this, eventually a new, identical DNA string.
Q2 – B, with 2 provisos, 1-Pattern baldness in males can only be inherited from the mother, since she provides the only X chromosome for her son. and 2.The answer does not preclude daughters inheriting baldness via the X chromosome from their father. Otherwise the answer is ambiguous, hence D must be the answer.
Q3 – C, Potassium is chelated, and hence not part of the molecule, per se. The others are all part of the DNA molecule. The sugar being Deoxyribose.
