Egads! My Hair Is Thinning & I Don’t Have The Kind Of Face To Go Shave It All Off! What To Do?

But I’ve quit smoking, I’m eating better, exercising, trying to chill out, but it’s still looking worse every week. It’s thinning from the front to about the middle of my head.
My friends say its a lost cause & that I should just shave it all off, & I would, but I have a HUGE, scarred, bumpy forehead & even when I keep my hair short it doesn’t look good….what can I do, I’m considering everything (including surgery), I don’t consider myself vain, but this is constantly on my mind! What works? I’ve heard of everything from Propecia to lemon juice. Ive tried Rogaine, massaging, olive oil, ….What works for you?

What works for me is shaving it all off. Honestly, no one is judging you based on your lumpy head. They will judge you based on the hairplugs (obvious), toupees (more obvious), or comb over (ridiculously obvious). Do yourself a favor, when you have run out of money trying to transfer your back hair to your head, just buy a beard trimmer and keep your hair at peach fuzz levels.
Unfortunately once the hair follicle is damaged, there’s really no going back, no rogaine or any type of crazy foods mix will work, and to be honest with you maybe not even the surgery will work because the new follicle will just fall right off again resulting in your money loss…
That’s what happens when we don’t take care of ourselves, remember it’s better to prevent than to have to treat…
What I would suggest would be for you to have a consultation with the doctor if you are really considering the surgery. Maybe I’m wrong about the surgery (Hopefully I’m wrong) because you would have to get a scalp analysis in order to determine if your follicles are dead or not so that would be the best bet…

I am not sure about surgery. All of it has it’s hits and misses. I knew someone who had it done and had very little success with it. It works if your follicles are still in good condition.
You should see a dermatologist. They can better guide you through this. Let you know if it is your diet and give you options.
You don’t have to shave it off. I recommend getting it cut really close. Almost a fade but not that short. This way, it won’t be as noticeable and you won’t be quite as exposed.
