My Mother Experienced Hair Loss On Her Crown And At Her Hairline When She Was 19/20. So Am I! What Is It?

Posted by

She said she never fully regained her former fullness, and kids at her college called her “bald’ because her parts were clearly visible. I am suffering the same thing, being male, I was worried it was only a harbinger of things to come. However, it has not progressed into male pattern baldness; just a pervasive thin head of hair on top. What could it be? Our family has a history of thyroid issues…could that play a part?

  1. It sounds like you and your Mom have some hair thinning that is hereditary. I would go to a doctor to find out just for your peace of mind. The thyroid problems could be part of it too.

  2. Steve says:

well since it runs in your family it must be genetic..in which case i don’t think there’s a whole lot that you can do about it,

  3. moharr10 says:

I’m not a doctor but I am a hairstylist. The most common reason for hair loss in either gender is genetics. Yup you guessed it you inherited this from someone in your family and well there is not much to do about this. The only things that combat hair loss are surgery, (like the Bosley institute), a drug like rogaine, (effects vary), or hair pieces, (wigs extensions). You may be able to get away with using some volumizing products to help camouflage the areas but that is just a temporary fix.
The other way that you may experience hair loss is due to a medical condition (thyroid issues have been known to induce hair loss), or a side effect from a prescription drug. If you feel that this may be the case I advise you to seek a professional for help.
I wish I could have been more help. Best of luck!

Sturdy green, recyclable boxes that may be reused repeatedly are the most useful choice for frequent house moves and for long-term storage – regardless of where the home move takes place. There’s nothing more frustrating than having to reload many times, because the awkward manner in which things are packed prevent a fully loaded van making one tour and something tour only.

  20. Locating the village barn might not have been much of a challenge for my German removal firm, but carting my awkwardly shaped belongings in the narrow staircase in the barn it was! The next time I shall certainly invest in green, recyclable boxes when moving house again.

One cannot go to a local supermarket or newsagent to inquire about discarded boxes. Everything in Germany is being recycled – a cardboard box that once held cans of pet food or washing powder is invariably coming with a recycling plant before one has a chance to ask.
