Cat Is Bald Around His Neck & Down His Back & Has A Moist Pyoderma – What Could Be The Cause Of The Baldness?

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

I have a one year old birman cat, male, desexed. We live in country Australia & used to only let him out during the day. In the past year he’s had tick paralysis & been bitten by a brown snake. He’s lived to tell the tale & is now an indoor only cat!!! About three weeks after the brown snake bite he went bald in 24hrs around his neck & down the centre of his back. The bald spot started getting red & looking nasty so I took him to the vet & he said he has a moist pyoderma, apparently from the dogs licking his bald spot & has treated him with antibiotics orally & topically. It’s slowwwwwwwwwly getting better but he’s continuing to lose hair & they can’t tell me why he went bald in the first place? I’m wondering if anyone has had a similar experience or perhaps has any thoughts on why he’d suddenly lose his hair around his neck/back?

Im 24, Male. 12 Months Ago Some Severe/rapid Hair Loss Started. What Could Be Responsible?

The hair line started receding I guess, since I was 22 1/2, the testosterone might be kicking in on the scalp. But the right side was experiencing more rapid loss than the left. The left it was almost nil, just very little recession and thinning. This led me to believe that may be it was not the baldness hormones and something else. What else could be the causes.
–I shower with shampoo on my hair everyday.
–Workload increased which was the cause of increase in a lot of all nighters, stress, regularly eating out ( a lot of chicken, sour cream, cheese and stuff like that) and also…
–increased masturbation ( I heard this speeds up baldness)
Could one or more of these be the cause of my hair loss? or is it just the baldness gene? My father is bald. Any suggestions on what I can do?
