Canary Unusual Molt Or Something Else?
Friday, November 13th, 2009A client of mine has a wonderful male canary that is 4 1/2 years old that is going thru an unusual molt for it. It has red on and under its wings (some blood feathers) but also looks red around them on the skin. It’s an only bird so no contact with other birds and they’ve had it since it was a baby. It’s always been a very sparsley feathered bird with a bald head and some baldness around the neck but the unusual number of blood feathers at once along with the redness makes me wonder if it is just a very aggressive molt or if there should be more concern.
