Male Baldness Info

hi, I am an 18 y/o male and recently I have been losing a ton of hair. I can honestly say I lost almost 50% of my hair in a little over a month and my doctor says it may be telogen effluvium. I think it might be male pattern baldness but idk. Also my hairline receded about at least 1 cm in a few weeks. Is this normal with telogen effluvium or could I actually be balding at 18?
